Ground the Office in the Sky
Office spaces in the corporate world are places of refuge for its people. I wanted to challenge myself and see if I could create an almostsphere that would relax guests in a corporate office building, using simple materials and layout design. I thought about how people would inhabit the space in their day to day life, and tried to create a realistic environment for people to utilize.
To design this space, I first studied the needs of this office space. For most corporate offices, a cafe and lounge area are not just a place to get coffee. This area provides a place of momentary comfort, a place to disconnect from the meetings, deadlines, and overall sense of urgency that can be found in a bustling business. By bringing in natural textures, calming colors, low lighting and interior foliage guests can allow themselves to relax.
In this space it was important to me to provide guests an environment to recharge for the workday. More importantly, I wanted to make sure this space would be available to everyone and included accessibility in the design of the space from the beginning.
